    Mary Kaye Matthews, Psy.D.

    Dr. Mary Kaye Matthews is a proud native of Chicago, Illinois. She completed her doctoral studies at the Chicago School of Professional Psychology. Upon graduation, she became employed as a Staff Psychologist with the Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP), where she found her niche for addressing the mental health needs of underserved populations. Dr. Matthews would go on to be promoted to Drug Abuse Program Coordinator (DAPC). After six years with the BOP, she joined the Department of Veteran’s Affairs in 2013 as the Local Recovery Coordinator and in 2017, Dr. Matthews was appointed as the Director of Substance Abuse Treatment Programs (SATP), where she practiced until June 2022. At that time, she joined VISN 9’s Clinical Resource Hub (CRH) as a Suicide Prevention Psychologist with the SP 2.0 program.

    In addition to her professional duties with the VA, Dr. Matthews graciously serves as the ministry leader for the Kingdom Counseling Ministry (KCM) at Kingdom Life Christian Ministries, Inc., under the pastoral leadership of Apostle Tyronne McCreary and Pastor Tonya McCreary and maintains her private practice, Cognitive Serenity Holistic Mental Health Care, PLLC.

    McKenna Hereford, Ph.D.

    Dr. McKenna Hereford is a psychologist and media lead at Deep Eddy Psychotherapy. Dr. Hereford completed her Ph.D. in 2020 with a research focus on racial disparities in mental healthcare through qualitative and quality improvement studies. She has clinical experience in a variety of medical, corrections, community, and training settings. Dr. Hereford completed a pre-doctoral internship at Texas Valley Coastal Bend VA and postdoctoral fellowship at South Texas VA with an emphasis on rural mental health. Current clinical interests include queer, non-monogamy, chronic pain, relational, and complex presentation populations.

    Kevin A. Harris, Ph.D., LP

    Dr. Harris is a licensed psychologist at Algos Behavioral Health Services. He specializes in assessment, including neurocognitive assessment and presurgical evaluations for bariatric and spinal cord simulator surgeries, as well as in the psychology of religion and spirituality. He has his Ph.D. in counseling psychology and was a former assistant professor at the University of Texas of the Permian Basin and Our Lady of the Lake University. He is a co-editor of the books “Assessing Spirituality in a Diverse World” and “Measures of Religiosity and Spirituality.” His research and clinical interests include the psychology of religion and spirituality, the psychology of music, integrative models of psychology, the definitions of religiousness, spirituality, faith, and the sacred, Paganism and counseling, and theatre and therapy.

    William C. Guy, Ph.D.

    Dr. Guy is a licensed psychologist who is a staff psychologist and outpatient training director at Clarity Child Guidance Center. He provides predoctoral internship and postdoctoral fellowship supervision in both psychological assessment and therapy. He also is part of a group private practice that sees outpatient children, adolescents, and adults part-time. Dr. Guy completed his master’s and PhD in clinical psychology from the University of Detroit-Mercy. He completed his predoctoral internship and University of Texas Health Science Center and started his career at Clarity as a postdoctoral fellow before becoming a staff psychologist. Dr. Guy’s training history includes clinical research within the department of pediatric neurology working with children with histories of early deprivation, Sturge-weber syndrome, Tourette’s, and intellectual disabilities. Dr. Guy also spent one year in the department of pediatric urology conducting assessments on children with voiding dysfunction.

    Current clinical interests include psychological and neurocognitive assessment, parent-child interactions, psychodynamic psychotherapy, family therapy, and LGBTQ issues in adolescent and adult populations. He is an active member in the Bexar County Psychological Association (BCPA), the local San Antonio chapter of Div. 53 (Society of Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology) and Div. 39 (Society for Psychoanalysis and Psychoanalytic Psychology). Dr. Guy also is an active member of the society for personality assessment (SPA). Dr. Guy enjoys weight training and physical fitness, college sports, and spending time outdoors.

    Rowland Folensbee, Ph.D.

    Rowland Folensbee, Ph.D., is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist in private practice in San Antonio working with children, adolescents, and adults. He is also a Licensed Specialist in School Psychology with twenty-five years of experience consulting in schools. His professional background has included private practice in Houston and San Antonio, Director of Clinical Psychology Services in a private psychiatric hospital, and past membership on adjunct clinical faculties of Baylor College of Medicine and University of Texas Health Sciences Center-San Antonio. He is the author of The Neuroscience of Psychological Therapies, published by Cambridge University Press. He has published articles related to neuroscience in psychotherapy, cross-cultural psychotherapy, and worry. He served as an examiner for the oral boards of the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists. Current areas of focus include exploring the implications of neuroscience for psychotherapy process and training, completing in-depth psychological assessments, and conducting psychotherapy with children, adolescents and adults.

    Amanda Wetegrove-Romine, Psy.D.

    Dr. Amanda Wetegrove-Romine is a Licensed Psychologist and current team coordinator of the Eating Disorders Program at the South Texas Veterans Healthcare System. In addition, she maintains a small private practice, offering therapy on local trails and in green spaces. Dr. Wetegrove-Romine also educates the public on the benefits nature has on our mental health. She specializes in the treatment of depression and anxiety associated with perfectionism, PTSD, an disordered eating and negative body image. She is co-founder and CEO of Camp Ollie Lou, a retreat in the Texas Hill Country whose mission is connecting women to nature. Dr. Wetegrove is a BCPA Past-President and has served in various other member at large roles for the association.

    Amy N. Gorniak, Psy.D.

    Amy N Gorniak, PsyD, is a San Antonio native. In her private practice, Hearthlight Mental Health, PLLC, she specializes in treating tweens, teens, and adults coping with trauma, loss, and life transitions that have left them struggling to find meaning in the face of challenges; she also provides psychological assessment for a variety of neurodevelopmental and psychological concerns. Dr. Gorniak especially appreciates the opportunity to serve her community by providing queer and gender affirming care. Her approach to therapy is trauma-informed, embodied, and relational; she works to actively center systemic issues, intersectionality, and the impact of climate change and social dynamics on mental health and well-being. Additionally, Dr. Gorniak provides psychological assessment and family consultation services on a part-time basis as an Outpatient Psychologist at Clarity Child Guidance Center where she completed her postdoctoral fellowship. She is also training in the provision of ketamine assisted psychotherapy.

    Additionally, Dr. Gorniak is actively engaged in research, activism, and community and individual resilience building associated with climate change. This includes consultation in the development of an online course aimed at building sustainable well-being for young adults coping with climate change and provision of group support services such as Climate Cafes and ClimACT groups. She actively volunteers in community emergency response and disaster mental health efforts.

    Ashlee Martinez, Psy.D.

    Dr. Ashlee Martinez is the Clinical Psychology Postdoctoral Fellowship Program Manager at South Texas Veterans Health Care system (STVHCS). Dr. Martinez is the owner and founder of Anima Mundi Consultation & Psychological Services providing services to clients in Texas, Iowa, and PSYPACT participating states. She completed her Doctor of Psychology degree from Our Lady of the Lake University. She completed her Clinical Psychology Internship and Clinical Psychology Fellowship at STVHCS. Dr. Martinez serves on the Board of Evoke Changes as the Clinical Director. She is also on the Texas Psychological Association Board of Trustees. She has served as Bexar County Psychological Association Member at Large – Hospitality (2019 & 2020), President-Elect (2021), President (2022), and Past President (2023).

    Dennis Scholl, Ph.D.

    Dennis Scholl, PhD is a Texas Licensed Psychologist with 49 years of Post-doctoral experience. Educated at Saint Mary’s College of California and the University of Notre Dame, Dennis served as an Air Force Psychologist on Active duty and Reserve duty from 1975 until retirement in 2004. First Licensed in Alaska, his assignments also included duty in Texas, Nevada, and Maryland. Agencies included USAF School of Aerospace Medicine Brooks AFB, Wilford Hall Medical Center, Elmendorf Regional Hospital, Nellis AFB Hospital, HQ Human Systems Center at Brooks AFB, National Security Agency Ft Meade MD, Air Force Research Lab, and USAF/SG Modernization Directorate. His civilian mental health service included Executive Director of the Alaska Mental Health Board, appointment to the State Licensing Board, and Director of Adult MH Services for Camino Real Community Services in south Texas.  Active in many Somerset area social and civic entities, Dr Scholl practices part time and is an approved Veterans Affairs Community Care provider. Dennis and his spouse Karen live on their small Bexar County ranch on the south part of Somerset.

    Mistie Seawell, Psy.D.

    Dr. Mistie Seawell is a licensed psychologist and the current Early Career Member-At-Large, with a primary focus on ECPs (early career professionals), students, and mentoring. She completed her doctorate in Counseling Psychology at Our Lady of the Lake University and has worked in the mental health field since 2001. She believes in the healing power of human-animal interactions and deeply believes that magic happens when we can get to the heart of our stories.

    Alyssa Arredondo, MS, LPC

    Alyssa Arredondo is a 3rd-year Counseling Psychology doctoral student at Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU), committed to fostering positive change through psychology, and deeply committed to decolonial and neuroaffirmative therapeutic approaches for minoritized clients, including adults with later-in-life diagnoses of ADHD. She operates a virtual private practice as a licensed professional counselor, with a strong emphasis on cultural humility and a special focus on serving ethnically and sexually diverse young adults. With a master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from OLLU in 2016, Alyssa's counseling approach centers on cultural humility, particularly for ethnically and sexually diverse young adults. Her counseling addresses critical life transitions, racial trauma, and the lived experiences of neurodivergent individuals. She firmly stands with the LGBTQIA+ community and advocates for social justice and inclusivity, aligning with movements like Black Lives Matter.
