Dr. Maldonado is a native Texan who grew up on a small ranch in the Rio Grande Valley. After graduating magna cum laude in psychology from Princeton University she decided to dedicate her career to helping people maximize their potential for happiness and fulfillment. Toward that goal, she earned a doctorate in clinical psychology from Baylor University in 2009. She went on to complete a competitive postdoctoral fellowship in South Texas Veterans Health Care System, where she trained extensively in the areas of trauma psychology and health psychology. She has since practiced in a variety of outpatient and inpatient clinical settings, including many that serve active duty military personnel and veterans. Currently, in addition to managing a private practice in San Antonio's medical center, Dr. Maldonado serves as associate faculty for UT Health San Antonio Graduate Medical Education where she develops and administers a variety of wellness-promoting services to physician trainees and their academic programs. Dr. Maldonado offers psychological evaluation, individual therapy, and group therapy to adult clients. Her psychological evaluation services include general diagnostic assessments, personality assessments, and pre-surgical assessments. Her clinical interests include generalized anxiety, panic, post traumatic stress, insomnia, medical illness/disease management, pain management, infertility, and sexual dysfunction. Dr. Maldonado implements a whole-person approach, elucidating for her clients the mind-body connection through which psychological, social, spiritual, and behavioral factors affect health and well-being. She individualizes each treatment plan, integrating components of a variety of evidence-based approaches, including cognitive-behavioral, interpersonal, and mindfulness-based therapies. Dr. Maldonado uses clinical interviews, psychological inventories, behavioral assessments, and personality tests in a data-driven,results-oriented approach to her work. She provides education and current, relevant literature in order to foster a collaborative working relationship with her clients.
