About BCPA

The Bexar County Psychological Association (BCPA) is comprised of persons engaged in the practice, teaching, and/or study of psychology in the Bexar County area. The primary goal of BCPA is to advance psychology as a science, as an academic discipline, as a profession, and as a means of promoting human welfare. We seek to be inclusive of the wide range of areas within psychology, including but not limited to: psychotherapy, psychological assessment, consultation, program evaluation, quantitative and qualitative research, school psychology, industrial/organizational psychology, neuropsychology, and experimental psychology.

Further purposes include:

  • Providing a basis for professional growth and association among psychologists in the San Antonio area, statewide, and at the national level.
  • Encouraging constructive relations with allied professionals.
  • Fostering responsible community ties.
  • Promoting opportunities for community education.
  • Developing and promoting ethical standards of psychological practice.

BCPA sponsors lunch seminars and all-day workshops through the year to bring knowledgeable speakers to address topics of general concern to psychologists and other mental health professionals. In addition, and perhaps of primary importance, BCPA offers the opportunity for informal interaction with local colleagues.

Members are also eligible for additional benefits, such as reduced fees for seminars and workshops, CEUs, the BCPA newsletter, annual socials, and eligibility to be listed on the BCPA Information and Referral listing.

BCPA also provides information regarding psychological service in the community. BCPA is an independent, nonprofit organization. The Texas Psychological Association (TPA) recognizes BCPA as an independent and self-sustaining local area society. However, BCPA seeks to work collaboratively with TPA. The organization recognizes and abides by the standards and aims of the American Psychological Association.
